Building Schools in Cooperation with UNICEF
(United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund)
 Sir Peter Ustinov (center, with
Annette and Dr. Reinhard Eroes) is not only a well-known and Oscar
winning actor, he also serves as veteran ambassador with UNICEF,
minding the interests of children all over the world. Together with
Sir Peter Ustinov we just finished building a new school for boys
and girls in Paghman, north of Kabul. The opening celebrations of
this school took place on 31 December 2003. After the winter
holidays, on March 15th 2004, approx. 1000 children will finally,
after many years without schooling, again start school. (more)

Advanced training for teachers in Nanghahar
In Cooperation with UNICEF we provide advanced
training for teachers in Nanghahar.
Together with the Jalalabad UNICEF chapter, we have offered advanced
training courses for teachers since the winter of 2002.
In two-week courses our teachers go to school again, too. They learn
how to use modern technologies in the classroom. The director of the
UNICEF Chapter, Haji Wahidi, has been involved with German education
programs in Nanghahar since the seventies.

Warm Clothes for cold winters
The Children are urgently in need of warm clothes. Temperatures in
the camps are going to be well below freezing. UNICEF Germany
collected 20 tons of winter clothing for the children and
transported all of it to Peshawar by air.
The staff of Kinderhilfe Afghanistan distributed clothes to
poor children from the refugee camps with the support of the German
Embassy.
